URGENT: Don’t Let Tallahassee Take Away the Hope Scholarship!

Our own Polk County Florida House Representative Josie Tomkow (R) has filed a bill (HB 1403) that would eliminate the Hope Scholarship. Attached is the bill in its entirety (all 85 pages).
There are many issues throughout this bill including the elimination of the Hope Scholarship. The Hope Scholarship is for Florida public school students in grades K-12 who have been bullied, harassed, assaulted, threatened and/or other violent acts. It allows that student to transfer to a private school of their choice or another public school. There are also other concerns in the bill that would limit accessibility to other scholarships as well as funds to private schools and home schools through scholarships.
We strongly oppose this bill as currently drafted. Please share this post on all of your social media and encourage others to reach out to our legislators regarding this bill. Make no mistake about it. This is downright irresponsible.
We all have watched the news over the years. We see what’s going on in our government-run schools.
Our kids have been bullied, threatened, and harassed. And it’s just not by other students. It’s also teachers intimating our future generation with indoctrination and forcing them to compromise their moral values.
Last year, the Hope Scholarship helped over 500 children get out of unsafe learning environments and gain access to a different school that better suited them.
The scholarship is a victim's bill that provides students who have been bullied, intimidated, or harassed by anyone on school property the ability to attend a private school of their choice.
But some in the state legislature want to toss it in the dustbin of history.
We can’t allow the state legislature to eliminate this powerful tool that is saving the lives of children across the Sunshine State.
