Polk County Commissioners Pass Resolution on Election Integrity/Security
This Resolution is the first of it's kind in Florida
On September 3rd, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) passed a Resolution on Election Integrity/Security with a vote of 3-2. Citizens Richard and Becky Nutt, along with Aaron Rye, Royal Brown III, and Bobby Dees, presented a four-part resolution which concluded with a focus on election integrity and security in Polk County. The resolution, supported by the United Sovereign Americans group, was the first of its kind in Florida to be approved by a county commission.
During the meeting, Commissioner Neil Combee commended the group for their well-prepared resolution, noting its timely presentation and suggesting it wasn't hastily assembled. Despite this, outgoing Commissioner George Lindsey expressed reservations about some of the resolution's wording, suggesting it might exceed the typical scope of BOCC resolutions and recommended a review by legal staff before reconsideration. Despite Lindsey's concerns, Commissioner Combee called for a vote, which was seconded by Commissioner Bill Braswell.
The resolution passed with Commissioners Combee, Braswell, and Wilson voting in favor, while Commissioners Santiago and Lindsey abstained. This decision marks a significant step towards enhancing election integrity and security in Polk County, potentially setting a precedent for other counties in Florida. The approval of this resolution by Commissioners Combee, Braswell, and Wilson is seen as a victory for those advocating for stronger election safeguards.
If you are Floridian, please speak out to your County Commissioners or City Council and duplicate this effort in all of Florida’s 67 Counties.
Thank you to the citizens who led this effort, and the three brave commissioners in Polk County Florida.
